Aquatic Culture is one of Australia's largest ornamental fish farms that produces a wide range of freshwater fish species to supply the aquarium trade.

We have a full-time position available for farm manager with an immediate start. It is a minimum 2 year contract with the potential for extension to a 5 year contract based on performance. You must be prepared to relocate to FNQ near Innisfail, Queensland or live locally. You must have skilled indepth hands on experience in fish husbandry and preferably in farming of freshwater ornamental fish.

Candidates with aquaculture experience or certification will have a favourable standing. You must be a self starter, hands-on worker with strong observational and problem solving skills. You must be highly organised with a strong attention for detail. Candidates must be handy with the ability to resolve, repair, maintain the farm in good working order.

The position will also require you to manage up to 3 assisting staff, so strong communication skills will be required as well as a good level of English, both spoken and written. This is not a 9am-5pm job. As you can appreciate dealing with live fish will require a much greater flexibility and dedication of your time.

Australian full Driver License is required as fish will need to be delivered to Cairns airport 2 times per week. Experience in using farm machinery such as generators, bore pumps, tractors, slashers and ride on mowers would be preferred.

Onsite training will be provided but a strong base knowledge and understanding of the foundations will be required including water chemistry, aquatic husbandry, fish species identification, disease monitoring and treatment, fish handling, order processing and packaging.

Accommodation in the farm house can also be provided if required at a small fee.
